Costa Rica Tarrazu Arabica Coffee

Costa Rica was the first Central American Country to grow coffee on a commercial basis. Cuba introduced Costa Rica to Coffee in 1729. Costa Rica only allows Arabica Beans to be grown in the country and growing any Robusta beans is illegal. The best beans are labeled “SHB” for strictly Hard Bean, which means that the coffee must be grown at an altitude of above 4,000 feet. Coffee grown at high altitudes are known as being the best because it increases the acidity of the bean, and because of the high altitude, the nights are often cooler which slows down the maturity of the coffee plant allowing the beans to develop to a more intriguing flavor.

It is said to be one of the world’s greatest coffees. Located just south of the capital, Tarrazu is one of the country’s most highly regarded coffee-growing regions.

Cup Characteristics: Tarrazu carries a light, clean flavor with an incredible aroma. This wonderful Costa Rica Tarrazu Arabica Coffee is a delightfully smooth coffee. It offers a fruity aroma with subtle chocolate notes, a hint of citrus that brightens the cup and has a medium-high acidity. This coffee is a full-bodied cup with a light and bright finish

All of our roasting is done per order and free grinding is available upon request.  If you have a preferred roast not shown in the options, please either state your preferred roast during check out (in the paypal portion) or via separate ebay email.

Lavanta Coffee Roasters is a 2nd generation coffee company focusing on Specialty Coffees.  Started by an immigrant who worked extremely hard to earn his citizenship, Lavanta Coffee initially was focused to put bread on the table.  After a few years of hard work, Lavanta hired additional personnel to assist with the increased workload and graduated to have 5 roasters spread over it's 3 global roasting facilities.  Lavanta now focuses on giving back to it's origin farmers by offering Direct Trade, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance & Organic coffees as well as puts an extra emphasis on sourcing from women coffee farmers.

Today the Lavanta Group moves over 1.6 million pounds of coffee on an annual basis to 6 continents however keeps our original 100+ year old roaster, a 4 oz coffee roaster, to remember where it all began.  All of our coffees are roasted to order by the Founder's direct family members and are guaranteed fresh.  Our officers continually travel the globe to ensure that every container of coffee purchased by the Group is fairly sourced, properly processed and guaranteed fresh.

Unlike many of our competitors who sell coffee from a garage or are just resellers, we have enclosed a copy of our Department of Health Certificate to show that our 7,000+ square foot facility is a fully approved food licensed facility.  Every one of our employees are required to take food safety handling tests to ensure safe and proper handling of your coffees.  What this means is that hats or hairnets are required, no direct contact with the beans are allowed, and all sanitary standards exceed the Department of Health requirements.  Additionally our scales are tested by the State on a regular basis to ensure accurate weights & measures.

We thank you for supporting our Direct Trade Coffees and guarantee you will enjoy our coffees or your money back!
